From your small at home backyard compost bin that you use for your dinner scraps to large scale farming operations with livestock waste, composting is the safest and most environmentally friendly solution to your disposal problems. Composting takes a nuisance product and turns it into a useful, pathogen safe product, especially so for farms with large quantities of on-farm processing waste.
BIOSECURITY MADE EASY
Composting has become the environmental solution of choice to deal with on-site mortalities of livestock and organic waste. The BioMulcher was created to make the composting process easy for producers, environmentally friendly, and completely reduce the risk of biohazards on the farm.
As with other aspects of farming, automation is finding its way into the process of managing mortalities.
Dutch Industries, based at Pilot Butte, Saskatchewan, has designed what looks like a big top-heavy green box that it calls the “BioMulcher.” The unit heats, grinds and mixes, composting up to 2,500 pounds of material per batch.
What is Livestock Composting?
Composting is the microbiological breakdown of livestock or other organic material with the assistance of oxygen, carbon, moisture, and heat into a stable nutrient rich product called compost.
There are a variety of ways to dispose of livestock mortalities; these can include, incinerating, rendering, burying, naturally disposing, or composting.
